Shredding love letters

I believe it was noted twentieth century philosopher Cigarette Smoking Man from The X-Files who stated that "regret is an inevitable consequence of life". (A phrase that was adopted by the superb Melbourne noise-rock band Ricaine for the title of their first album.) I'm feeling that, having spent yesterday afternoon shredding old love letters and organising packets of photographs from the pre-digital era.

The good news is that it's raining for the first time since we installed our new rain gauge last week. I have been standing at the back door watching it fill up. As a friend said on Bluesky, I have joined the Eric Olthwaite club.

Listening: Sandwell District - Feed Forward (2010) Techno for a rueful, rainful morning.
